The coastline of the north- east is one of the most scenic on the

Barbati is a small settlement, belonging to Spartilas, nestled in the

water sports. Spartilas is a mountain, pretty village with plenty of

Acharavi, the main village of the Municipality of Thinali, is located
on the north coast, 42 km from Corfu Town. It is a beautiful location
in the foothills of Mount Pantokrator, Corfu's highest peak standing
at 914 meters. There is a huge choice of accommodation with hotels of
all categories, as well as small attractive complex such as villas,
apartments and studios. In the area there is also an abundance of
bars, taverns and restaurants serving Greek specialties and
international cuisine.
Acharavi, according to the legend, was originally called 'Ivi' but in
32 BC when Romans destroyed the village and killed all the young
people, nothing was left. It was then known as 'Acharavi' Ivi
(Acharavi in Greek means awkward). Today Acharavi is a popular tourist
resort boasting crystal clear water and a very special beach. Acharavi
beach, joined with the neighboring beach at Almiros, forms the
longest, unbroken stretch of golden sand on the island. The area
offers an extraordinary choice of either peace, tranquillity and
particular natural beauty of the area around Almiros beach, or the
crowds, the cosmopolitan aspect and fun on Acharavi beach with all
kinds of water sports. The area is also an excellent base for
exploration to Mount Pantokrator, Old Perithia, Kassiopi, and the
amazing Canal D'Amour near Sidari and many other places of interest. |

| North of the village Vatos you will find Ermones, a small bay with
craggy rocks and wooden hillside where archeological finds have shown
an existence of life since the Bronze Age. Over looking the Ermones
bay is the monastery of Madona Apelistra. The facilities available on
the beach are considered to be well organized, here you will find one
of the 6 diving schools on the island and all water sports. On both
banks of a small river flowing from Ropa Valley into the bay, there
are beautiful hotels, bars and traditional fish taverns. Only 2 km
away there are a number of buildings that can accommodate almost 1.500
visitors. Following the river you arrive in Ropa Valley, which covers
an area of 10.000 acres. The valley is renowned for its wild life such
as rare reptiles, birds, amphibian and fishes. A part of Ropa Valley
has been developed as the Golf Club, which extends over 1,000 acres,
and the horse-riding club. |

Liapades is quiet place only 18 km far from Corfu Town. Liapades is a
beautiful quiet village of 900 inhabitants nestled in an evergreen
corner in the central section of the island on the west coast. Far
from the hustle and bustle of tourist development, this area is
renowned for its wine produced from the kakotrygis variety. Liapades
is famous for its breathtaking scenery, crystal clear sea suitable for
diving and snorkeling with beautiful pebble beach.

Kassiopi provides a picturesque culmination of the coastal experience.
Still dominated by a huge fortress built by the Romans (legend has it
that Nero stopped there), the village is situated on a bustling
sheltered harbor, where many and happy hour can be spent in one of the
colorful waterfront bars watching the fishermen preparing nets. The
once tiny fishing village of Kassiopi has still managed to retain its
original charm despite being an ideal resort for those wanting active
beach holidays. Presiding high over the town is an ancient Venetian
castle, from here make your way down the rugged paths and you will
find yourself in the prettiest fishing harbor on the island. Tiny
boutiques and colorful taverns cluster around the waterfront, where
everyone meets up for dinner before moving on to sample the numerous
bars and taverns. Explore the rocky passage across the cliffs and you
will discover a number of shingle beaches and a large bay, where all
the usual water- sports are available. There are also a couple of
public swimming pools, which charge an entrance fee.
Kassiopi has blossomed from a tiny village into a bustling
cosmopolitan resort with something for everyone. The energetic can
revel in the nightlife while; those who prefer a slower pace can relax
